My name is Samantha Manzella, but I go by Sam. I’m bisexual and use she/her pronouns. I write about music, youth activism, and all things LGBTQ culture. I’m currently an Associate Editor at ViacomCBS’s Logo and NewNowNext, where I’ve kikied with Lizzo and spread the gospel of iced coffee.
the whole shebang
I’m a Brooklyn-based writer, editor, and social media strategist with a background in community organizing and feminist theory. I studied Journalism and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the Honors College at SUNY New Paltz, where I was the Journalism Program’s Outstanding Graduate in May 2018.
I interned at Logo with the prestigious American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME) in the summer of 2017. I presented the findings of my senior thesis, After the Tipping Point: Investigating Visuals of Transgender People in Magazine Media, at the 2018 National Communication Association (NCA) conference in Salt Lake City, UT. I also worked at the research desk of my campus library, served lattes at my local coffee shop, and volunteered at the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center. I’m the TP (Total Package).
Drop me a line
I’m funnier on social media, I promise.
